Today was among our most adventurous days and proved to be among the most fun.

We traveled to a tiny rocky coastal restaurant, bar, lounge area in the tiny town of Praiano. The trip was a 10 minute ride on a water taxi from Positano. In the very first 2 minutes of the excursion I had my sunhat fly off into the sea and without giving much thought I just waved it good by and never signaled our speedboat driver to rescue it. We arrived at this isolated cove and were greeted by the owner Piccolitto. the service was delightful and food incredible. The foods are all brought to the location by boat as the cove has no car access from town.

The Restaurant is called One Fire and was recommended to us by a waitress at our favorite breakfast location: Casa & Bottega. When the owner learned that we were clients of the Casa & Bottega spot he brought the chef out from the kitchen to greet us as all these folks are apparently good friends.

Well the pictures will reveal the type of fun , food, family and relaxation that filled our day.

After the boat driver dropped us off at the spot I jokingly mentioned I had lost my hat overboard and for him to be on the look out for it in the harbor some 10 miles away.

You will see this story has a happy ending.

imageWe had a guide tour us thru Pompeii. The History and story of this buried city is fascinating. These Romans had a sophisticated culture with poetry theaters, hot steamy bath houses and open street vendors with large amphorae for ” take out ” foods. …..pre McDonalds!!!

After our tour of Pompeii we traveled around the coastline passing Sorrento and on over to the Amalfi Coastal town of Positano. I had been here 14 years previously with Erica. The town remains one of the scenic coastal jewels of the World!
We are staying in Villa perched on the cliff with balconies and views of the coast from every window. The bouganville drape our balcony with breathtaking color and happiness.

imageRoman Forum… Piazza Popolo… Monument Victor Emmanuel image Our charming neighborhood in Roma is three small streets away from Piazza Navonna. The location is perfect. We can easily walk to all major monuments but are tucked away from the hustle and noise of the large Piazza. imageBERNINI: Daphne and Apollo

A visit to Athens Georgia brought me into the beautiful property and studio of artist Christine Shockley.
Christine paints from the inspiration of nature incorporating local farms, animals, flowers and ethereal countryside scenes. A full description of her philosophy, education and more images can be found on her website: www.christineshockley.com

Portraits of Hope is a Public Art Projects organization developed to offer creative art therapy for seriously ill children. For more than 12 years it has brought hope, joy, and avenues for personal expression and exploration to thousands. The project is currently exhibiting in Aspen where fire trucks and rescue vehicles have been wrapped in plastic coated panels of brilliant flowers which have been painted by local school children. The flower power motif is their message of “joy, life, youth, beauty, renewal and environment.”
